The incident in the T (Boston Subway) is disturbing. Either Boston wants all the residuals to themselves or, more likely, this is another remnant of the war on terror (TM). As you said in your email, "you can't be too careful."

Well, of course you can. We can't be safe AND free. Until Americans realize that it will be unsurprising how far Ashcroft etc. go. Meanwhile Bush is the most admired man in the US -- for attending Harvard AND Yale and remaining uneducated? I'm glad I'm not on deck to being a member of humanity. I'm outta here.

Excellent! My experience navigating this site is summed up with two words: Simple and Deep at once. Legend has it that when Malcolm X was to deliver what was to be his last speech at the Audubon ball room (165th and Broadway and sadly gone) he whispered to the emcee that was introducing to the audience in a rather grandiose way:"Hey brother, make it plain". That's what you guys did and you got it beautifully right.
You know Mike I never told you this before but when I see you I kinda imagine Hemingway: A terse toughness, a sweet ruggedness. Keep it up brother. Manuel.

Mike! I had no idea you were such a talented artist. I am blown away by some of the images in your portfolio. (sadly, the prices are a little too high for a poor teacher like myself--but, I guess you have to eat.)
The american flag photo essay is thought provoking--great stuff for a classroom conversation about patriotisim and how people display thier feelings about our country.
I'm so happy to see that you are following your passion and doing the very important work of telling stories. Good luck!
